Surat Seorang Bule Ke Meme Jegeg (1)

Hi MemeJegeg,

Thank you for your informative response. I too am American, but have been teaching English in Korea for over 2 years. I already visited many other Asian countries which were awesome adventures as a lone traveler meeting locals and other travelers as well as enjoying different foods, some really odd and some being the best ever, learning about many cultures and their histories, and appreciating nature from various perspectives. Nature seeking is one big fortay for me and appreciating what an awesome planet it really is we're bless with. Nothing compares and to really know it, requires travel with an adventurous positive spirit and an open flexible minded approach minding vigilance to your safety of course as much as feasable.

I am visiting Bali my first time from September 3rd to September 15th and am looking forward to experiencing this most exotic and beautiful enchanting place I've wanted to experience for many years now. I took a look at www.seribudream.com and am pleased with what I see in this place at reasonable prices as it gets high reviews as being the most beautiful and special part of Bali to get a more local experience. I would be very pleased to go fishing, rice planting, and other activities such as ceremonial events involving gamelan, dance, and high culture involving warm down to Earth people who hold true to thier good values. I'm very awe inspired about traditional cultural events such as gamelan, dance, and the arts as well as nature seeking during my travels. I read on the internet there are local zines listing the calendar for these events as well as locals putting out the word so I can't plan yet what I'll view and film in HD. Gamelan is the very deeply enchanting art that drawed my interest in this faraway place I've been looking forward to experiencing for a long time and now's almost the time to do it. :)

I also would enjoy hiring a good driver or two who can show me a terrific enjoyable experience touring around with a local perspective with decent English skills; no large company or greedy man ran tours sold by aggressive touts and phonie cronies. I also am wondering if it is practical to rent a motor bike such as a Honda Wave or Yamaha Mio some days to go exploring the rural areas on my own. I've hired motor bikes numerous times rural areas in my 4 trips to Thailand during the past 2 years. My AAA international permit expired and I can't get another from Korea, but I understand in Bali, like Thailand, they don't ask for license and it's like only a 5000 IDR fine if caught by police and you're allowed to keep driving. As I know too well from Korea, lacking rural independent transportation is an unencessary handicap putting a severe damper on my experience as Korea is not set up like many countries are to accomodate foreigner needs in a practical manner for touring mainly to lack of English, anxious insecure feelings surrounding dealing with Westerners, and lack of understanding Westerners altogethor despite their highly developed materialistic Westernization. I'm sure the conditions in Korea are very far from the truth for Bali as is for Thailand too. :) I'm not going to the developed South in heavy traffic on a motor bike, but would probably enjoy the rural North and inner areas on one for maybe 4 days of my trip. I'm a mid 30's man who can't yet settle down in decent physical condition and will probably climb up to the rim of a volcano to peek down into an Earth pimple; something to build courage, bravery, and more appreciation of our world as adventure travel is not for the faint hearted. I'm quite facinated about Bali. Would love to Papua New Guinee too, but it's impractical at this time for me as you need lots of money to achieve that.

Yes, please put me in touch with some people I may be interested in participating with and enjoying making use of their services. Too bad you're not there, because I think you probably can set me straight quite easily and quickly once I arrive to the North coast. Like you said, there's many other good folks out there. Thanks again sincerely and I look forward to having the time of my life. I look forward to hearing back from you and thank you for taking time out to share with me. I promise I'll share a message and videos with you. :) Have a wonderful day
Sincerely,
